Mr. John White was not just a teacher to some of us, he was like a father. He pushed us to be the best we could be. All teachers care about their students but with Mr. White it was different, he treated us like we were his children. My heart is breaking knowing that he is gone. He brought out my passion and love for music by believing i could be better then what i thought i could be. The world has lost a wonderful man, God broke the mold after he made John thats for sure. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Jenny and his family in their time of sorrow. Rest in peace John you made an impact on so many lives. I am honored to say i had the privilege of being your student.

Just last Thursday, I came across the Norborne High School album we cut in 1976. I was sub-teaching music and there it was...in the director's office. Mom has a record player, so I'm going to borrow the album and give it a listen.
You brought out the best in all your students. What a legacy!
Rest Well, Mr. White.

I had the honor of being a student of Mr. White for a very brief time in Stover Mo. He was always kind to me and I sang my heart out for him! He seemed almost giddy when I appeared in class he knew I loved to sing and he was happy to pass out the songs! He will be missed.

Mr. White was such an amazing man who touched my life and so many others. There’s no doubt in my mind that if it had not been for him that I would’ve taken a different path. Year after year he pounded “One Bright Candle” into my head, I’m sure he had no idea that he was truly one bright candle for us all, that he made an INCREDIBLE difference and lives on through us all.

Mr. White was one of the most amazing people I’ve ever had the honor of knowing. I’ve never seen anyone more passionate about music than him. I had the privilege of watching him turn our band around and make it into something special. He taught us more than just going through the motions of playing our instruments, he taught us how to play music. I will never forget the gleam in his eyes the day we won our first music competition. I am truly sorry for the loss of such a beautiful soul; and although Mr. White will be missed dearly, I know he is playing his trumpet with the best of them.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I worked with John through Kaysinger activities when I taught music at Smithton and Northwest and in later years when I accompanied for various schools. Besides being a treasure trove of information, John was lots of FUN and had a great sense of humor. He will be sorely missed.
