Obituary of Mary Ann DeLacy
Mary Ann DeLacy, age 79, of Osage Beach, Missouri passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Arrowhead Senior Living in Osage Beach.
Mary was born on December 31, 1941 in Murphysboro, Illinois, the daughter of Frances and Catherine (Carey) Amato.
On January 20, 1961, Mary was united in marriage to her childhood sweetheart Mike DeLacy in Dallas, Texas. They shared 61 years together at the time of her passing. They had a wonderful life together and enjoyed family vacations, game nights, attending kids, grandkids, great-grandkids activities and being active in the lake community for over 50 years.
Mary was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church since the 1970s. She had a deep love for gardening and had many beautiful memories of tending to her plants and flowers. Her yard was a natural oasis for birds, butterflies and all wildlife. Avid bird-watching filled her days and gave her great joy. She was also a member of the Lake Area Master Gardener Club. Her other creative talents included quilting and stained glass. Mary was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Mary was most proud of her family and loved them dearly. As a passionate sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys, KC Chiefs and KC Royals she has recently convinced us all that the Chiefs will be in the Superbowl LVI.
Mary is survived by her husband Mike DeLacy of the home; daughters Carey Smith (Dan) of Camdenton, Missouri, Dana Brown (Bob) of Kaiser, Missouri, Elizabeth Knipp (Greg) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Blair Hauser (Chris) of Overland Park, Kansas; 8 grandchildren Danelle Schwertner (Donnie), Devan Workman (Darren), Damon Smith (Amanda), Chelsea Riney (Joe), Lacy Littmann (Levi), Elissa Knipp, Nick Lane, and Josh Lane; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Frank Amato (Liz) of Seattle, Washington; sisters Jeanne Toia of Edina, Minnesota and Kathy Rios (Frank) of Mesquite, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Frances and Catherine Amato, her in-laws Tex and Ernie DeLacy, brother Jay Amato, brother-in-law Rick Toia, brother-in-law Richard DeLacy, nephews Jim Baridon and Damian DeLacy, and beloved grandson Cody Brown.
